Sat. Jul. 16, 2011: Calgary, AB ~ Drumheller ~ Edmonton, AB (3:10am)
16.07.2011 - 16.07.2011
Today, we left Calgary and drove to the Badlands again: Horseshoe Canyon, Drumheller/Badlands + Royal Tyrell Museum, then Hoodoos.
We ended up at Elk Island National Park at dusk, where we meant to be, but it took longer to get there because we got kind of lost outside of Edmonton.
We saw 2 Deer en route to the park. Plains Bison grazed on 1 side of the Yellowhead (North Trans-Can) Highway 16; Wood Bison grazed on the other side of the Highway. We startled a moose at the tree-line near the road, but he ran away before I could ask for his picture. We drove as far as we could into the park, before we got to a gate that required us to pay to go further. 1 porcupine and 1 coyote greeted us on that little road. 2 more moose waved hello from the outside meadow on the OUTSIDE of the park boundary fence as we left, as if to say "Don't fret about missing us in there. We're having more fun hanging outside the gates."
We came into Edmonton from the wrong end and were punished by getting stuck in traffic as a country music festival concert was letting out. At least it gave us time to see the city and the crazy, festive cowgirls on the loose.
My status on Facebook says:
We had Dinosaur bones for breakfast, hoodoos for lunch, and now we're Jasper-bound.
